preface

(james gallagher)

about a year ago, my art teacher assigned a blogging project. we were meant to create a blog that displayed and explained our artwork from the year, reflecting on the process of each piece. almost everyone resented this assignment and after the school year, deleted or forgot about their blog. however, throughout the summer i kept making little improvements and additions to my blog. it became my personal space to organize my art . i knew no one looked at it, yet still enjoyed arranging and designing the blog. art has always been a part of me, but it extends beyond drawing and painting. i find art in almost anything. consequently, i am often overwhelmed by inspiration. as my closet walls became more and more inundated with photo/newspaper/magazine collages, it was clear that i needed a better way to organize my inspiration. of course- i would blog.

i simply dropped my original art blog to create this multi-faceted picturebook of art, photography, fashion, style, decorating, etc. i read once that in order to have a successful blog, one must choose a specific topic and stick with it in order to develop a strong group of followers with the same interests. oops

i sometimes question how many people read this. i really wouldnt find my ramblings interesting to anyone else, it really is for myself. and brian, of course. everyone always says that writing clears your head and thoughts an, even though i have always considered myself an anti-journal person, i have to say it is true. so i really am just talking to myself i guess. because when do i actually get the chance to sit down and listen to my thoughts? im doing it right now, and i never really realized it
